LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Appalachian State University field hockey
suffered its third loss of the season, falling 3-1 to Robert Morris on Saturday
afternoon.
The Mountaineers took a 1-0 lead over the Colonials at the
26:32 mark of the match when sophomore Jordyn Warren notched her second
unassisted goal of the season.
Robert Morris wasted no time answering back, as they scored
just six minutes later when Courtney Schratz found the back of the net,
knotting the score at 1-1.
The Colonials netted the final goal they would need for the
win late in the second half when Lianna Watkins scored off a pass from the top
of the circle, allowing them to take the 2-1 advantage.
Taleah Scott added one more goal for Robert Morris, giving
them the 3-1 victory over App State.
Appalachian had eight shots, four of which were on goal,
while the Colonials had eight shots, with seven on goal. Senior Megan High put
two shots on net for the Black and Gold.
Senior goalkeeper Sarah Anderson
suffered the loss for App State, saving four shots and allowing three to score.
Anderson is now 0-3 overall on the season.
With the loss Appalachian falls to
0-3 overall, while Robert Morris improves to 2-1 overall.
App State will be back in action on
Monday, Sept. 3 when they take on Saint Louis in Louisville. The match is
scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
