Appalachian State University baseball closes a five-game homestand when it hosts Presbyterian on Tuesday at Beaver Field at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on what is forecast to be a beautiful evening (temperatures in the 60s, clear skies) in the High Country.

Appalachian (21-17), which is 23-2 in its last 25 non-conference home games and 43-8 in the month of April since 2009, is looking to close the week-long homestand with a 3-2 record. Presbyterian (18-19) has lost eight in a row since moving to a season-high-tying seven games over .500 with a 10-6 win at Tennessee on April 5.

The Mountaineers will send sophomore left-hander Ryne Frankoff (1-0, 3.21 ERA) to the mound versus the Blue Hose. Frankoff, who made his first career start at East Tennessee State two weeks ago, has surrendered just one run over 8.1 innings since moving into the starting role. Last Tuesday, the southpaw limited Gardner-Webb, which had the nation's sixth-best hitting team coming in, to just one run on four hits in six innings of work to help ASU open its current homestand with a 12-3 victory.

Presbyterian will counter with left-hander Steven Richardson (4-3, 4.56 ERA). ASU has faced Richardson once before, scoring four runs (two earned) on four hits to down the southpaw in the 2010 season opener at USC Upstate. Richardson did strike out six Mountaineers over 7.1 innings in what was his first start at PC after transferring from Richland C.C. in Texas.

Tuesday is 90s Night at Smith Stadium with 90s music and trivia at the ballpark throughout the evening. Click HERE to purchase tickets online.
