BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University field hockey completed its weekend sweep by thumping Limestone 7-0 on Sunday at Kidd Brewer Stadium.

The Mountaineers (4-5) did not waste time to score its first goal as sophomore Kelly Allaband drilled the ball into the back of the net 2:30 into the match. Five minutes later, senior Nicole Morgan added to App's lead making the score 2-0. Junior Lauren Kloeppinger assisted Allaband and Morgan on each of their goals.

Appalachian controlled the whole match by having a potent offense that outshot Limestone (2-5) 18-1.

Sophomore Lisa Charney shined on a cloudy day in the High Country by posting her first-career hat trick. Charney's goals came in the 11th, 38th and 52nd minute giving her six goals on the season (13 points). Her first goal was assisted by junior Hannah Martin and her second was assisted by sophomore Casey Lammando.

After assisting Charney earlier, Lammando found herself on the scoring side of a goal when she slipped a ball by the Saint's goalkeeper for her first goal of the game and ASU's sixth of the day.

For the second straight match, App has shutout its opponent with junior Bridgette Street and sophomore Sarah Anderson spliting halves against the Saints.

With under a minute remaining, freshman Brooklyn Shearer joined in on the scoring frenzy and capped off the Mountaineer's scoring by tallying her first-career goal. Fellow freshman Emily Knapp assisted Shearer on the goal which made the score 7-0.

ASU remains at home next weekend as NorPac Conference play begins with Radford and Longwood coming to Boone to challenge the Mountaineer's two-match winning streak.
