BOONE, N.C. - After more than 80 Southern Conference games, the regular season has come to a close, setting the table for the Southern Conference Men's Basketball Tournament March 2-5 at the North Charleston Coliseum. Appalachian enters the tournament as the No. 8 seed and will face No. 9 Wofford in the opening round on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Appalachian heads to the Lowcountry after winning three of its last four games and is seeking its third tournament title in school history. Thursday's game is just the ninth first-round game in school history with the Mountaineers holding a 6-2 record in opening-round games. The Mountaineers and Terriers have never met in the SoCon Tournament. Georgia Southern Eagles claimed the No. 1 seed in the tournament by virtue of a 20-8 overall record and an 11-4 slate in league play. It's the team's first outright divisional crown and the program's third overall South title. Elon (14-13, 10-4), the North Division champion, earned the No. 2 seed, while the No. 3 seed goes to Davidson (17-10, 10-5).
