BOONE, N.C. - Junior Bridgette Street was recognized Monday as the NorPac Conference East Defensive Player of the Week with her 16 save effort this past weekend.
After having seven denials in a 2-0 loss to Robert Morris on Friday, Street was only four saves away from obtaining seventh place on the career saves list. It took Street 21 minutes in Sunday's match against La Salle to reach the milestone. She ended with nine total saves in a 3-1 loss to La Salle.
Street has now moved into seventh place on Appalachian's career saves list with 323, surpassing Kathryn Pearson (317). The next two on Street's radar are Malia Sweiconek (334) and Chelsea Dailey (382).
The Mountaineers (2-3) will travel back up to Moon Township, Pa. this weekend for a pair of matches against Saint Francis and Lock Haven.
