BOONE, N.C. ?€“ The Appalachian State University men's basketball team will continue its season in the 2007 National Invitation Tournament (NIT) as it enters as the fifth seed and will face No. 4 University of Mississippi on Wednesday, March 14 at 8 p.m. EDT at Tad Smith Coliseum in Oxford, Miss.
The Mountaineers (25-7) and the Rebels (20-12) have met just once all-time as Ole Miss came away with a 75-63 victory on December 27, 1996 at the Lobo Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M.
This season's NIT appearance is Appalachian's first and marks the seventh all-time for Ole Miss, which is an even 6-6 in NIT games. The Rebels boast a 5-1 home record in NIT games.
The winner will take on the winner of No. 1 Clemson versus No. 8 East Tennessee State on the higher seed's home court on March 19. The NIT Final Four is March 27 and 29 at New York's Madison Square Garden.
