Jessica Jackson is entering her third season at App State after spending two years as the director of operations at Kent State for two seasons.
In her first season with App State, Jackson played a pivotal role in coaching the guards, recruiting, scouting and was in charge of coordinating monthly community service projects for the team.
Since arriving to App State, her responsibilities have increased to game scheduling and film breakdown in preparation for upcoming opponents. Jackson is also a liason between the women’s basketball program and marketing, promotions and compliance department and spearheads social media interaction.
In Jackson’s second season with the Black and Gold, three of the top scorers on the team were guards (Joi Jones, Madi Story, Kaila Craven) while the trio scored 34.2 of the team’s 66.3 points (51.5 percent).
Craven led the conference in points per game, 3-pointers and free throw percentage amongst freshman while Jones ranked in the top 20 in points per game, assists, rebounds and assist to turnover ration.
During her time with the Golden Flashes, Jackson took care of team travel and community service projects while also acting as the camp director for all day camps and team camps. Jackson also handled all film exchange and equipment as the video coordinator.Â
Prior to her stint at Kent State, Jack son served on the staff at NC State as a graduate assistant for the Wolfpack beginning for the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.
While at NC State, Jackson assisted in day-to-day operations with the basketball offices, coordinated scout team efforts and assisted with women’s basketball community service projects, as well as summer camps.
A 2010 graduate of Western Carolina, Jackson is no stranger to the App State basketball program as she was the starting point guard for the Catamounts for two seasons after transferring from South Florida. She served as the team captain and earned Southern Conference All-Academic honors on Western Carolina’s 2009 squad, while also helping her team to a SoCon Championship. In 2009, Jackson became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
