Pima Iturraspe

Pima Iturraspe was named assistant field hockey coach on Aug. 13, 2024.

"We are so excited to add Pima to our coaching staff," Coach Dinsmore said. "She has played at a high level in Argentina and had a very successful playing career at Liberty University. Pima brings a lot of attacking skill sets to our staff and we are blessed to have her join our team."

Iturraspe spent the past two seasons as a midfielder/forward under Liberty head coach Nikki Parsley-Blocker, who owns the fifth-best winning percentage among active Division I field hockey head coaches. Iturraspe helped the Flames make the NCAA Tournament twice and win 29 games in two seasons, which included a 13-1 record against Big East foes.

As a Flame, Iturraspe scored five goals, dished out six assists and tallied 16 points, while starting 31 of 40 games played. Her senior season saw her net goals against Longwood and Villanova and help the team advance to the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Syracuse. Her three-point day against the Wildcats was the second-most in a game in her career.

"I'm excited to join App State and the field hockey team," Iturraspe said. "I'm looking forward to helping elevate the team to its highest potential and creating a culture of intense competition where each player experiences the true spirit of competing and playing for one another. I can't wait to help coach them at a super competitive level."

Iturraspe's first season at Liberty, her United States debut, was filled with superlatives as she led Liberty freshmen in goals, assists, points and shots while starting all 20 games. She tallied her first career multi-goal game against No. 25 James Madison and swatted a shot home against the top-ranked Tar Heels.

Off the field, she was named a 2022 NFHCA Scholar of Distinction and was named the Big East All-Academic Team.

The Buenos Aires, Argentina, native boasts an extensive resume on the international circuit as she competed for five years on the Buenos Aires All-State Team, winning three national championships (2016, 2018, 2019). She received the field hockey mayor prize from San Isidro Club in 2021 for her dedication and effort during that year. Iturraspe also competed for the Argentinian Junior National Team for several years.
