Biography

2008: Opened the season as a mid-week starter but moved to the weekend rotation midway through the conference slate ... finished with a perfect 3-0 record despite not figuring in the decision in 8-of-11 starts and 12-of-15 appearances overall ... was the winning pitcher in two of ASU’s most notable non-conference wins, at Wake Forest (Feb. 27) and at Auburn (March 12) ... fought his way through five innings on a frigid day at WFU, surrendering five runs on seven hits but earning the win in ASU’s 18-8 triumph ... was quite sharp in five innings of work at Auburn, allowing just one earned run in the 4-2 victory ... moved into the weekend rotation in time for back-to-back starts versus offensive juggernauts College of Charleston (April 6) and Georgia Southern (April 12) ... put ASU in position to win the Saturday affair at GSU by striking out six in five innings of work but, once again, was not the pitcher of record in ASU’s 5-3 win ... earned his third win of the season in perhaps his finest start, scattering seven hits over eight innings in a 5-4 win over Davidson (April 27) ... was not part of the decision in any of his final three starts of the year, all games ultimately decided by two runs or less (May 11 vs. Furman, May 17 at Wofford and May 23 vs. Furman) ... his 6.93 strikeouts per nine innings were tops among ASU’s regular weekend starters.

2007:  Overcame early-season injuries to become a regular in ASU’s weekend rotation ... posted a 5.31 ERA, best among ASU pitchers with more than five starts on the season ... became a poster boy for no decisions, going just 2-3 despite making 11 starts on the campaign ... team went 6-5 in his 11 starts ... surrendered just three home runs in 62.2 innings of work ... allowed just one run and struck out five in just four innings to earn victory in first start of the season at North Carolina A&T (Feb. 28) ... tossed a scoreless ninth inning to record save in 5-3 win over Dayton (March 4) ... rebounded from not getting out of the fourth inning in first two SoCon starts, put together a string of four-straight impressive outings, going 5.2, 6.0, 6.0 and 8.2 innings in starts versus Furman (April 1), College of Charleston (April 8), The Citadel (April 14) and Georgia Southern (April 21), respectively ... despite lowering his ERA from 5.62 to 3.83, went 0-1 during the four-game run ... outing versus GSU epitomized the tough-luck string, as he scattered six hits over 8.2 innings and struck out a season-high seven, but was saddled with the 3-2 loss thanks to a ninth-inning error ... was spectacular in the second game of a doubleheader at Longwood, allowing just six hits in a complete-game, 1-0 shutout.

2006: A two-way player as a freshman, appeared in 24 games, including 19 on the mound ... made four starts at pitcher ... posted an 0-3 record and 7.81 ERA ... batted .333 with two hits in six at-bats ... allowed just one run over first three appearances, including two-inning, no-hit, three-strikeout performance for only save of season versus Army (Feb. 26) ... tossed 1.1 innings of hitless relief in 4-3 win over Western Carolina (April 1) ... struck out season-high four in 2.2 innings of work versus Furman (April 23).

High School: North Carolina’s 4A Player of the Year and Impact Baseball Pitcher of the Year in 2005 ... went 13-1 with 0.82 ERA to help lead D.H. Conley to 4-A state championship ... allowed just 51 hits while striking out 114 and walking only 19 in 94 innings ... a two-time all-conference honoree in addition to all-state honors as a senior ... coached by Jason Mills ... selected to play North Carolina-South Carolina and East-West all-star games.

Personal: Full name is Aubrey Joel Edens ... born March 18, 1987 (turns 22 during season) ... son of Darlene and Randy Edens ... enjoys boating and wakeboarding ... majoring in construction management and minoring in business ... aspires for a career in engineering management.
