Adding in the Louisiana start in which he allowed three earned runs after taking a 3-2 lead into the eighth inning, Schmid had a 1.99 ERA with 13 earned runs in 58.2 innings over those nine quality starts ... Had six strikeouts, five hits, no earned runs and no walks over 7.2 innings in a 4-1 win at ULM on April 20 and 6.0 scoreless innings in a 5-0 win at UTA on May 5 … Also recorded victories against UNCW, where he struck out 11 batters (tied for the highest regular-season total in the Sun Belt) while giving two runs on four hits over 7.0 innings, and against Troy, as he gave up two earned runs in 6.0 innings ... 2017: Often the Saturday or Game 2 starter on the mound for the Mountaineers … Led App State starters and ranked seventh among full-time Sun Belt starters with a 3.61 ERA in 14 games (13 starts) … Posted a 6-7 record in a team-high 87.1 innings (seventh in the Sun Belt) with 98 hits allowed, 50 runs allowed (35 earned), 79 strikeouts (ninth in the Sun Belt) and 26 walks … Also had 40 at-bats primarily as a designated hitter, as he batted .225 with nine hits, four doubles and two RBIs … Six wins tied for eighth place in the Sun Belt … In a mid-April start at Georgia Southern, improved to 5-4 by striking out a career-high 13 batters, giving up four hits, allowing two runs (one earned) and walking only one batter in 7.0 innings of a 7-3 road victory … In a 7-3 win against Western Carolina, allowed three runs (one earned) and struck out seven over eight innings … Picked up a win in the 12-4 victory at No. 14 Louisiana by allowing two earned runs and six hits over 7.0 innings ...
