BOONE, N.C – App State Soccer hits the road as the team travels to Harrisonburg, Va. to face James Madison on Thursday. The Mountaineers and Dukes will play at 7 p.m. at Sentara Park and the match will be available to stream on ESPN+.
App State (7-1-3, 2-0-1) comes to the pitch following a scoreless draw against reigning Sun Belt East Division Winner Old Dominion. The Mountaineers recorded their seventh clean sheet of the season, as goalkeeper
Hanna Skogsfors recorded four saves, extending the program-record unbeaten streak to 10 consecutive matches.
App State has outshot their opponents 153-78 on the season and is ranked 19th nationally in corner kicks (80).
Ellie Garrison continues to lead the Mountaineers with six goals on the season, including four in the month of September.
Libby Bermingham has added five goals, and
Olivia Simon has scored three. Defensively,
Lucy Harrington is the only Mountaineer to play every minute of every game this season. App State is currently tied for first in the conference standings alongside Louisiana and Marshall with seven points apiece.
James Madison (4-5-1, 2-1-0), enters the contest following a 2-1 loss against Marshall. Sun Belt Preseason Player of the Year Ginny Lackey scored the only goal for the Dukes that night with an assist from Samantha Deguzman. This was Deguzman's first assist of her collegiate career. Lackey leads the Dukes with six goals on the season, to go along with a pair of assists. Sofia DeCerb has started 10 matches in goal for James Madison and owns a 1.48 goals-against average. The Dukes were picked to win the Sun Belt in the 2026 preseason poll.
The Mountaineers and the Dukes have played six times since James Madison entered the Sun Belt in 2022. The Dukes lead the series 4-0-2, with the last match up being a 1-1 tie during the 2025 season.
Olivia Simon opened the scoring with a goal in the fourth minute of play.
