BOONE, N.C. – App State Soccer looks to build on a three-game winning streak and extend its program-best unbeaten streak to double digits when it takes on Old Dominion on Sunday at 1 p.m. The game will be available to stream on ESPN+. It's Heroes Day at The Valley, featuring a pregame color guard presentation and a camo koozie giveaway.
App State (7-1-2, 2-0-0) enters the contest following a 2-0 victory against the Sun Belt's newest member, Louisiana Tech on Thursday.
Ellie Garrison found the back of the net twice in the first half for her fourth career brace, while the Mountaineers outshot the Bulldogs 25-11 and 7-0 in shots on goal. Goalkeeper
Hanna Skogsfors recorded her fourth shutout of the season and picked up her second assist of the season on the first goal of the contest. Maddie Willams and
Lucy Harrington played the full 90 minutes holding the backline to its sixth clean sheet of the season.
Garrison now leads the team with six goals on the season.
Libby Bermingham follows closely behind with five goals and one assist. App State has outshot the competition 149-72 on the season and is ranked 18th nationally in corner kicks per game (7.56). App State and James Madison are the only 2-0 teams in the conference through the first two Sun Belt contests.
Old Dominion (3-5-1, 1-0-1) enters the contest after a scoreless draw against Louisiana on Thursday. Goalkeeper Ellie Goodrich recorded her third clean sheet of the season. Hanna Morgan leads the Monarchs with four goals on the campaign. First year head coach Will Roberts leads the Monarchs. He spent the last three seasons at ULM where he led the Warhawks to an unbeaten 6-0-4 record in conference play last year to win the regular season title and eliminated Old Dominion in the Sun Belt Tournament quarterfinals. He earned a 1-0 win over ULM in this season's conference opener.
App State and Old Dominion are meeting for the fifth time. Old Dominion leads the series 2-2-1 since rejoining the conference in 2022. The two teams met last season in Norfolk and exchanged goals in the final 15 minutes of play to finish in a 1-1 draw.
