App State Tennis Hosts Austin Peay Before Sunday Trip to Wake Forest

BOONE, N.C. – The App State tennis team will host Austin Peay on Saturday at the Deer Valley Athletic Club before traveling to Winston-Salem to face Wake Forest on Sunday.

First serve for Saturday's match is scheduled for 11 a.m., while Sunday's match is set to begin at 10 a.m.

Last Time Out
The Mountaineers (3-3) split their recent road trip to Georgia, defeating Kennesaw State 5-2 before falling to Mercer 4-3 in a dual match that came down to the final set on Court 2.

After dropping the doubles point, App State needed four singles wins to secure the victory. Despite a back-and-forth battle that left the match deadlocked at 3-3, Mercer ultimately clinched the win in a third-set tiebreaker.

Scouting the Mountaineers
App State opened the 2026 season following a historic fall campaign by senior Savannah Dada-Mascoll, who is currently ranked No. 9 nationally. Dada-Mascoll defeated nine ranked opponents, including then-No. 1 DJ Bennett, en route to becoming an NCAA singles quarterfinalist and earning All-American honors. She was recently named Sun Belt Women's Tennis Player of the Week following her win over Virginia Tech All-American Özlem Uslu.

Undefeated in the High Country this season, the Mountaineers previously put together a three-match winning streak against UNC Asheville, Western Carolina, and Kennesaw State. Dada-Mascoll, Naledi Manyube, and freshman Allegra Hodson all hold winning singles records, with Hodson leading the team at 5-1.

Third-year head coach Hannah Fetters returns six players from last year's roster: Dada-Mascoll, Ruby Broadbent, Alexi Cleveland, Manyube, Taya Powell, and Isabela Romanichen. The squad also welcomed newcomers Sreenidhi Balaji and Hodson.

Scouting the Governors
Austin Peay (4-2) visits Boone after an 8-14 finish in 2025. The Governors are coming off a 6-0 loss to Vanderbilt on Friday. Led by fourth-year head coach Maria Sorbello Morrison, the roster features six returners and three freshmen. Saturday marks the first meeting between the two programs.

Scouting the Demon Deacons
Wake Forest (5-3) finished the 2025 season with a 15-14 record. The Demon Deacons return seven players under head coach Jeff Wyshner, the winningest coach in program history, who is now in his 16th season. This is the first meeting between the schools since 2017, when Wake Forest won 6-1.

Up Next
The Mountaineers head to Texas next week for a two-match road swing. They will face Tarleton State on Friday at noon, followed by a matchup against UT Arlington on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m.
