RALEIGH, N.C. – The App State men's and women's track & field team continued competition at the Raleigh Relays on Friday. App State has tallied 27 top-50 finishes thus far with one day left of competition. Saturday's action will start at 9:30 a.m. with field events. Track events are scheduled to start at noon.
In the invitational section of the men's pole vault, sophomore
Matthew Gray placed second with a clearance of 5.15m (16' 10.75"), while senior
Patrick Freeman tied for sixth with a clearance of 5.05m (16' 6.75").
Sophomore
Kendall Johnson placed seventh in the women's 100 meters with a personal best of 11.59. She remains sixth in the App State all-time list. Fellow sophomore
Nicole Wells placed 13th with a time of 11.72 and came within 0.02 of her personal best. In the women's triple jump, freshman
Jahaila Wright recorded a leap of 11.80m (38' 8.75") to finish 13th.
Senior
Emma Russum recorded a personal best of 34:41.91 to place 17th overall in the women's 10,000 meters. Her time elevated her to second in the App State all-time list.
Junior
Parker Kinney and freshman
Christopher Stewart placed 21st in the men's 400 meters (47.66) and men's discus (46.93m (153' 11")), respectively. Also in the men's discus, junior
Jeremiah Burch Jr. rounded out the top-25 with a toss of 45.45m (149' 1"). Sophomore
Caleb Lopez recorded a leap of 13.43m (44' 0.75") to place 23rd in the men's triple jump.
On the track, junior
Ray Lee recorded a time of 10.81 to place 35th and sophomore Armonté Ferguson clocked a time of 10.95 to place 51st in the men's 100 meters. In the women's 400 meters,
Ja'Naya Linder recorded a personal best of 56.79 to place first in her heat and 46th overall.
Thursday Rewind
The Mountaineers opened competition at the Raleigh Relays with two broken program records on Thursday. With a personal best of 14:08.07, graduate student
Ethan Turner broke the program record in the men's 5,000 meters. The previous record of 14:18.05 was set in 2024 by
Garrett Bivens. Turner finished 94th overall in the event. Freshmen
Henry Stark and
Thomas Wlazlowski clocked times of 14:10.86 and 14:14.87 to move to second and third, respectively, in the program all-time list.
Redshirt senior
Calbert Guest set a program record of his own by clocking a personal best of 29:12.85 in the men's 10,000 meters. The previous record, set in 2021 by Isaac Benz, was 29:39.31. Graduate student
Oliver Wilson-Cook also posted a personal best, stopping the clock at 29:47.64, which moved him to second in the App State all-time list. Guest finished 72nd overall and Wilson-Cook rounded out the top-90.
Stewart rounded out the top-20 in the men's shot put with a toss of 15.21m (49' 11"). Fellow freshman
Dennis Mowatt Jr. and Burch Jr. placed among the top-45 with tosses of 13.91m (45' 7.75") and 13.76m (45' 1.75"). Senior
Jake Stanley placed 30th in the men's javelin (46.10m (151' 3")) while freshmen
Brittany Ellis and
Emily Edwards placed 44th (11.58m (38' 0")) and 45th (11.42m (37' 5.75"), PR), respectively, in the women's shot put.
With a time of 3:47.12, junior
Ethan Lipham rounded out the top-50 in the men's 1,500 meters.
