BOONE, N.C. - The App State men's and women's track & field team is set to host its Mountaineer First Chance meet at the Randy Marion Track & Field Facility on Friday. Field events are slated for a 9:30 a.m. start and track events are scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
Joining the Mountaineers in Friday's competition will be Belmont Abbey, Emory & Henry, Ferrum, Hillsdale, King, Lees-McRae, Lenoir-Rhyne, Rio Grande (Ohio), Tusculum, UNC Greensboro, and UVA-Wise.
Admission is free and free parking is available for fans in the App 105 lot and ADA parking is available adjacent to the App 105 Building.

The Mountaineers opened the outdoor season with a sweep of the Myrtle Beach Invitational titles on March 14-15 in Myrtle Beach. The men scored 142 points and the women scored 112.5 points. Graduate student

App State totaled nine event wins and 49 top-eight finishes on the weekend. In addition to the women's 4x100-meter relay win, App State saw first-place finishes from the women's 4x400-meter relay team and both men's and women's 4x800-meter relay teams. Individually, Johnson clinched first in the women's 100 meters with a time of 11.71. Freshman
Thomas Wlazlowski placed first in the men's 1,500 meters with a time of 3:53.29 and redshirt junior
Chase Burrell stopped the clock at 15:12.98 in the men's 5,000 meters to place first. In the men's pole vault, graduate student
Patrick Freeman recorded a personal best clearance of 5.20m (17' 0.75") to place first and move to fourth in the App State all-time list.
