BOONE, N.C. - The App State women's track & field team is headed to Birmingham, Ala. for the Sun Belt Indoor Track and Field Championships on Feb. 24-25. Action on Monday and Tuesday will start at 11 a.m. ET (10 a.m. CT) with the multi-events. The meet will be available to stream on ESPN+.

App State wrapped the indoor regular season at Liberty's Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational, which was highlighted by a new program record in the women's 5,000 meters, set by senior
Jasmine Donohue. Donohue stopped the clock at 16:31.02 to clinch first in the invitational section of the race.The previous App State record was 16:93.75, set in 2015 by Tristin Van Ord. Donohue had also broken the women's 3,000-meter program record at the Orange and Purple Invitational (Jan. 25) and was the anchor for the women's distance medley relay (DMR) team that set a new program record at the Doc Hale Invitational (Feb. 8).
In addition to the new 5,000-meter school record, the Mountaineers tallied 29 top-20 finishes. Sophomore
Jayla Adams clocked a personal best of 39.00 to clinch first in the women's 300 meters, which moved her to second in the App State all-time list. Fellow sophomore
Nicole Wells placed third with a time of 39.53. Junior
Addison Ollendick-Smith recorded a 500-meter personal best of 1:15.24 to place fourth in the race and move to third in the all-time list. In the invitational section of the women's pole vault, freshman
Lilly Nichols tied for fifth with a clearance of 3.94m (12' 11").
Over the course of the indoor season, the Mountaineers shattered seven program records (the women's 600 meters, women's 1,000 meters, women's 3,000 meters, women's 5,000 meters, women's pole vault, women's DMR, and women's 4x300-meter relay) and two Holmes Center facility records (women's pole vault and women's 4x300-meter relay). The Black and Gold set at least one record at each meet this winter.
Last Time at the SBC Indoor Championships
App State totaled seven top-five finishes and took eighth in the team standings with 45 points at last season's Sun Belt Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Mountaineers saw podium finishes from the distance medley relay team of
Rhys Ammon, Wells, Ollendick-Smith, and Donohue, who finished second with a time of 11:47.73, and
Ashlee Osaji, who finished third with a leap of 12.43m (40' 9.5") in the women's triple jump.
Ava Studney took fourth with a clearance of 3.88m (12' 8.75") in the women's pole vault, and the women's 4x400-meter relay team of Wells, Olldendick-Smith,
Daye Talley, and Adams took fourth with a season best of 3:46.69.
Ranked Mountaineers
Nichols continues to lead the Sun Belt, remains eighth in the NCAA Southeast Region, and stands 37th in the NCAA in the women's pole vault category. Joining Nichols in the Sun Belts's top-five in the women's pole vault is Studney and graduate student
Noelle Meeker. Studney also rounds out the region's top-25 in the event. The women's distance medley relay team of Johnston, Adams, Ollendick-Smith, and Donohue leads the SBC, rounds out the top-10 in the region, and rounds out the NCAA's top-50. Donohue and senior
Emma Russum stand first and second, respectively, in the Sun Belt in the women's 5,000 meters. Donohue also stands 22nd in the region in the event. Additionally, Donohue ranks third in the women's 3,000 meters and fourth in the women's mile, while Johnston rounds out the Sun Belt's top-five in both events. The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Wells, Ollendick-Smith, Talley, and Adams ranks third in the conference and 16th in the region.

The NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va. on March 14-15. The NCAA's top-16 athletes in each event will advance to the championship meet. The final list of participants will be available on March 4 and the final start lists will be released on March 12 on NCAA.com.
