App State Accepts Invite to JLab Birmingham Bowl

BOONE, N.C. — Accepting an opportunity to compete in the postseason, App State Football will face Sun Belt Conference rival Georgia Southern in the JLab Birmingham Bowl on Monday, Dec. 29.

The game, held at Protective Stadium, the four-year old home to UAB Football in downtown Birmingham, will kick off at 1 p.m. CT (2 p.m. ET) and air on ESPN.

This will be App State's ninth bowl appearance in 11 postseason-eligible seasons at the FBS level. It earned bowl berths in eight of its first nine seasons after becoming postseason-eligible in 2015, including an NCAA-record seven berths in the first seven seasons.

The Mountaineers' 5-7 record in Dowell Loggains' first regular season as head coach included four losses by a combined 15 points, and a 25-23 home loss to Georgia Southern on Nov. 6 was one of three losses by three points or less.
