#AppState NFL: Week 5 Recap

BOONE, N.C. – App State currently boasts 11 football alums on NFL rosters, including Sam Martin, who contributed to the Carolina Panthers' comeback win against the Miami Dolphins, whose roster includes Kendall Lamm. Martin and Lamm were App State teammates in Boone from 2010-11.

Sam Martin – Carolina Panthers (P)

Martin attempted three punts with a long of 61 yards and an average of 53.7 per attempt. He was also the holder on two field goals and three extra points, all of which were good, as the Panthers rallied from a 17-0 deficit to win 27-24 over the Miami Dolphins.

Kendall Lamm – Miami Dolphins (OL)
Lamm saw action against the Panthers, appearing on four special teams plays.
 
Akeem Davis-Gaither – Arizona Cardinals (LB)
In his fourth consecutive start, Davis-Gaither recorded five total tackles, including two on special teams. He played 55% of defensive snaps and 63% of special teams snaps and was also part of a key play that forced a fumble from Tony Pollard, leading to an Arizona Cardinals touchdown.
 
Nick Hampton — Los Angeles Rams (OLB)
Hampton saw action in the Thursday Night game against the San Francisco 49ers, playing on four special teams plays.
 
Ryan Neuzil – Atlanta Falcons (OL)
It was a bye week for the Atlanta Falcons.
 
D'Marco Jackson – Chicago Bears (LB)
It was a bye week for the Chicago Bears.
 
Tyrek Funderburk — Minnesota Vikings (CB)
Funderburk was signed by the Vikings after a stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 11.
 
Shemar Jean-Charles — Seattle Seahawks (CB)
Jean-Charles was signed to the Seattle Seahawks practice squad in late August.
 
Ahmani Marshall — Cleveland Browns (RB)
Marshall made the practice squad as an undrafted free agent.
 
Cooper Hodges – Jacksonville Jaguars (OL)
Hodges remains on injured reserve while recovering from a knee injury suffered last season.
 
Jalen McLeod — Jacksonville Jaguars (LB)
McLeod, who played three seasons at App State, is on the injured reserve list due to a lower-body injury suffered in practice in August but will be eligible to return later in the season.

CFL NOTES
Kicker Michael Hughes has signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, putting four App State alums on CFL rosters.
 
Hughes joins QB Chase Brice (3-for-4 passing this season for the BC Lions), DL Demetrius Taylor (BC Lions) and CB Dexter Lawson (28 tackles in eight games for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers).
