BOONE, N.C. – App State currently boasts 11 football alums on NFL rosters, including Carolina Panthers punter Sam Martin, the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Sam Martin – Carolina Panthers (P)
Martin attempted six punts, landing four inside the 20 and producing a long of 68 yards in the 13-6 win over the New York Jets in earning the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week Award. Martin recorded 276 total punt yards, with a net average of 43.7 per attempt. He also was the holder on two made field goals and an extra point.
 
D'Marco Jackson – Chicago Bears (LB)
Appearing in 14 defensive plays and 19 special teams plays, Jackson recorded one tackle and broke up a pass in the 26-14 win over the New Orleans Saints, his former team.

Jackson was front and center as a game ball was presented to Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen, the Saints' head coach during Jackson's time in New Orleans.
   
Akeem Davis-Gaither – Arizona Cardinals (LB)
Davis-Gaither appeared in 88% of the defensive snaps and seven special teams plays in a 27-23 loss to Green Bay. Tying a team high with eight tackles, he also recorded a forced fumble and a pass defended on Tucker Kraft.
 
Ryan Neuzil – Atlanta Falcons (OL)
Neuzil played 100% of the offensive snaps while starting at center. Through six weeks, he has not allowed a single sack or quarterback hit.
 
Nick Hampton — Los Angeles Rams (OLB)
Hampton saw 17 snaps on both defense and special teams in the 35-7 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
 
Kendall Lamm – Miami Dolphins (OL)
Lamm saw action against the Cleveland Browns, appearing in three special teams plays.
 
Tyrek Funderburk — Minnesota Vikings (CB)
Funderburk was signed by the Vikings after a stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 11.
 
Shemar Jean-Charles — Seattle Seahawks (CB)
Jean-Charles was signed to the Seattle Seahawks practice squad in late August.
 
Ahmani Marshall — Cleveland Browns (RB)
Marshall made the practice squad as an undrafted free agent.
 
Cooper Hodges – Jacksonville Jaguars (OL)
Hodges remains on injured reserve while recovering from a knee injury suffered last season.
 
Jalen McLeod — Jacksonville Jaguars (LB)
McLeod, who played three seasons at App State, is on the injured reserve list due to a lower-body injury suffered in practice in August but will be eligible to return later in the season.
