"I'm disappointed with today's performance. We have to perform at a high level when the opportunity arises and we missed the opportunity." said men's distance coach
Brad Herbster.
In the women's 6K, all eight Mountaineers clocked personal bests on the day. Freshman
Josie Jackson set pace for the Black and Gold, stopping the clock at 21:39.8 to place 105th out of 270 competitors. Jackson's time was a 32-second improvement of her previous personal best, 22:11.7, which she set at the Firetower Project Run.
"It's rare to have a day when everyone on the team runs a personal best and today was that day," said women's distance coach
Annie Richards. "Our team is predominately underclassmen and they rose to the challenge of a competitive meet with teams from across the region and across the country. Josie shined in the last kilometer of the race with a fast finish that made the difference in our team score."
