Track and Field/Cross Country Adds 8 Newcomers to 2026-27 Signing Class

BOONE, N.C. — The App State Track and Field and Cross Country program has welcomed eight more newcomers to the program, bringing the total to 19 signees for the 2026-27 season.   

The latest group of eight signees includes four freshmen and four transfer students, made up of five distance athletes, one sprinter, one pole vaulter, and one jumper.  

Romeo Brown | Sprints | Newberry, S.C. | Spartanburg Methodist College  

Brown spent his first three seasons at SMC, where he had a dominant 2026 season. Highlighted by a season-best 10.16 in the 100 meters at the AAC Outdoor Conference Championships, Brown posted a career-high nine first-place finishes in the 2026 outdoor and indoor seasons, including three in the 100 meters. He capped off his outdoor season with a fifth-place finish in the 200 meters at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.  

Tess Dickhans | Distance | Blacksburg, Va. | Blacksburg HS  

In her senior season, Dickhans ran a season-best 2:17.43 in the 800 meters at the Carolina Distance Carnival. She was part of multiple relay teams during her senior year, helping win a state title at the 4A championships as part of a sub-four-minute time in the 4x400 meters, breaking the school record. 

Madeline Entwistle | Pole Vault | Bradenton, Fla. | IMG Academy  

Entwistle had a strong senior year campaign as she captured five first-place finishes in six appearances and a fourth-place finish in her other appearance, where she set her personal best clearance of 3.92m/12'-10.25", a mark that would be top five in App State history. She had four different appearances in 2026 with clearances over 12 feet and improved her best every meet of the season.  

Ignacio Llorens | Distance | Bainbridge Island, Wash. | Bainbridge HS 

Llorens had a decorated 2026 season, setting six new personal bests, highlighted by a time of 1:52.50 in the 800 meters at the WIAA 2A State Championships. In his first attempt in the 1500 meters at the Nike Outdoor U20 Championships, he ran a stellar time of 4:02.82.  

Lamine Sall | Jumps | Fishers, Ind. | Texas State/WKU 

Leaping his way up the mountain, Sall attended Texas State for his first two years of college before transferring to WKU, where he did not compete in the 2026 season. In his freshman year at Texas State, he jumped to a career-best 7.14m in the long jump.  

Ethan Stovall | Distance | Edmond, Okla. | Oklahoma State 

Stovall spent his first two collegiate years at Oklahoma State before transferring to App State. In his final appearance as a Cowboy, he ran a 3:47.39 in the 1500 meters at the Arkansas Twilight, setting his personal best. In the meet prior, he set his personal best in the 5000 meters with a time of 14:13.69 at the Oregon Team Invitational, grabbing a third-place finish.  

Gemma Tolputt | Distance | Somerset, England | Millfield School  

Tolputt travels across the ocean to join the Mountaineers after having a career year in 2026. In January, she ran an impressive time of 2:18.95 in the 800 meters and nearly broke her personal record in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:49.97. 

Baylor Wolfe | Distance | Denver, Colo. | Kentucky 

The former Wildcat brings endurance talent to the Mountaineers. In her first two years at Kentucky, she set her standards with a time just north of 10 minutes in the 3000 meters during indoor season at the Rod McCravy Memorial in January of 2026 and set her personal best mile time of 5:04.84 at the same event a year prior.  

Of the 19 signees for 2026-27, the group includes 10 distance runners, three jumpers, two throwers, two sprinters, one pole vaulter and one hurdles competitor.
