BOONE, N.C. - The App State men's and women's cross country teams will close out the regular season with the Princeton Fall Classic this Friday in Princeton, NJ. The women's 6K is slated for 10:30 a.m. with the men's 8K to follow at 11:15 a.m.
Joining the Mountaineers in Friday's competition will be Boise State, Boston College, Boston University, Buffalo, Columbia, Connecticut, Cornell, Dartmouth, Eastern Michigan, George Washington, La Salle, Lehigh, Maryland, Monmouth, Oklahoma, Penn, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Princeton, Providence, Richmond, Rider, Rutgers, Stony Brook, Syracuse, Temple, Toledo, UMass Amherst, UMass Lowell, Utah Valley, William & Mary, and Yale.

At the Firetower Project Run on Oct. 3, sophomore
Aaron Kidd won the men's 8K with a time of 24:37.2, which was six seconds shy of his personal best (24:31.2). For his performance, Kidd collected his first Sun Belt Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week accolade and became the third Mountaineer sophomore to earn a SBC Runner of the Week nod this fall. Derek Waite (25:06.0) finished fourth through eighth to help the Mountaineers to a first-place finish in the team standings with a season-low 23 points.
Sophomore
Breanna Budzinski was the first Mountaineer to cross the finish line in the women's 6K, stopping the clock at 21:50.4 for a personal best and eighth-place finish. The freshman quartet of
Elizabeth McCart (22:08.5),
Josie Jackson (22:11.7),
Tessa Massa (22:21.5), and
Ashby Williams (22:23.3) each clocked personal bests and finished among the top 25. The women's team placed second in the standings with 81 points.

Looking to defend their 2024 team titles, the Mountaineers will head to Foley, Ala. for the Sun Belt Championships on Oct. 31. The meet will be available to stream on ESPN+. The women's 5K is set for 9:30 a.m. ET (8:30 a.m. CT) and the men's 8K will follow at 10:15 a.m. ET (9:15 a.m. CT).
