Mountaineers Ready to Compete at Doc Hale Invitational

BOONE, N.C. - The App State women's track & field team is headed to Blacksburg, Va. for Virginia Tech's Doc Hale Meet. Field events will start at 4 p.m. and track events will start at 5 p.m. on Friday. Action will resume at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday with field events with track events slated for a 2 p.m. start.
 
Last Time Out 
App State tallied eight top-10 finishes at the Camel City Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C. last week. In the women's pole vault, sophomore Ava Studney clinched first with a personal best clearance of 3.80m (12' 5.5"), which moved her to fifth in the App State all-time list. Graduate students Noelle Meeker and Celia Agee took second (3.65m (11' 11.75")) and fourth (3.50m (11' 5.75")), respectively. 
 
On the track, App State saw third-place finishes from senior Jasmine Donohue, freshman Nicole Wells, and graduate student Alexia Moehling. Donohue recorded a personal-best of 9:47.40 in the women's 3,000 meters, which placed her fifth in the App State all-time list. Wells matched her personal best of 7.65 in the women's 60 meters, while Moehling clocked a time of 8.82 in the women's 60-meter hurdles. 
 
Junior Daiyanna Cooper placed fourth in the women's weight throw (16.76m (55' 0")), while senior Megan Plummer took eighth in the women's shot put (11.83m (38' 9.75")). 
 
Ranked Mountaineers 
In the Sun Belt, Donohue ranks fourth in the women's 3,000 meters and women's 5,000 meters. 
 
In the Southeast Region, graduate student Ashlee Osaji remains 12th in the women's triple jump, while senior Taylor Smith ranks 22nd in the women's long jump. Donohue stands 24th in the women's 3,000 meters. App State's quartet of Wells, sophomore Addison Ollendick-Smith, freshman Jayla Adams, and senior Elizabeth Fuller maintain their ranking of 25th in the women's 4x400-meter relay category. 
 
Up Next 
App State will close out the indoor regular season with the VMI Winter Classic in Lexington, Va. on Feb. 9-10. The Mountaineers will then head to Birmingham, Ala. for the Sun Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 19-20.
