Mountaineers Tally Six Top-Five Finishes on First Day of Camel City Invite

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. The App State women's track and field team opened competition at the Camel City Invitational on Friday with six top-five finishes. Action will continue on Saturday with field events scheduled for a 9:30 a.m. start. Track events will start at 10:25 a.m. 
 
Three Mountaineers placed in the top-five in the women's pole vault, led by sophomore Ava Studney. Studney clinched first with a personal best clearance of 3.80m (12' 5.5"), which moves her to fifth in the App State all-time list. Graduate students Noelle Meeker and Celia Agee took second (3.65m (11' 11.75")) and fourth (3.50m (11' 5.75")), respectively.
 
On the track, freshman Nicole Wells matched her personal best of 7.65 to place third in the women's 60 meters. Graduate student Alexia Moehling recorded a third-place finish of her own, clocking a time of 8.82 in the women's 60-meter hurdles.
 
In the women's weight throw, junior Daiyanna Cooper recorded a toss of 16.76m (55' 0") to place fourth. Cooper's mark is a mere 0.24m from her personal best of 17.00m (55' 9.25"), which she recorded at the 2023 Mondo College Invitational.
