The Mountaineers (10-9 (4-4 SBC)) opened their four-game road stretch in Norfolk, Va., where they fell to Old Dominion, 68-49. Senior

Ranked Mountaineers
In conference-only play, Harris ranks fourth in the league for 3-pointers per game and 3-point percentage. Moffitt ranks fourth in the rebounds and blocks category. Alston ranks fourth in the scoring category and fifth in the steals category. App State ranks third in the conference for made 3-pointers and fourth in combined team rebounds in SBC action.
Moffitt ranks second in the league for rebounding and rounds out the top-five in the Sun Belt for blocked shots on the season. Alston stands fourth in the assists category and rounds out the top-five in the league in the scoring and steals categories. As a team, App State rounds out the top-five in the SBC for made 3-pointers on the season.
Last Time Against James Madison
App State hosted James Madison on Feb. 22, 2023, which was the Mountaineers' penultimate regular season game last year. The Mountaineers fell to the Dukes, 78-62. Three Mountaineers netted double-figures, led by
Janay Sanders, who scored 14.
Emily Carver netted 12 points, while Chaé Harris netted 11. Carver and Harris combined for four of the Mountaineers' five treys on the night. Harris was also the team's top rebounder, pulling down six. Alston dished out a team-high five assists.
Scouting James Madison
James Madison enters Saturday's contest with a 14-6 (6-2 SBC) record after falling to Marshall, 77-70, on Wednesday. The Dukes won four consecutive conference contests from Dec. 30 to Jan. 11, which included a 77-72 overtime win against Louisiana. Troy snapped the Dukes' streak in Troy, Ala. on Jan. 13. The Dukes went on to post a pair of victories over Georgia Southern and Old Dominion, reaching 72 points in both games. In non-conference play, JMU posted a pair of three-game win-streaks. The Dukes were ranked 14th in this week's College Insider Women's Mid-Major Top-25 poll.
A trio of Dukes average double-figures, led by Peyton McDaniel, who averages 13.3 points per game. Jamia Hazell and Kseniia Kozlova follow McDaniel, averaging 11.1 and 11.8 points per contest, respectively. McDaniel also averages a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game. Olivia Mullins leads the Dukes in the assists category, averaging 2.7 per game.
On the Horizon
App State will close out the month of January with a clash against Marshall, who is currently 8-0 in Sun Belt play, on Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. in Huntington, WVa. The Mountaineers will then head to Conway, S.C. to take on Coastal Carolina at 1 p.m. on Feb. 3.
