BOONE, N.C. - The App State women's basketball team will start a four game road stretch with a clash against Old Dominion at 6:30 p.m. in Norfolk, Va. on Thursday. The game will be available to stream on ESPN+.

Faith Alston's 1,000th collegiate career point highlighted the Mountaineers' 82-74 victory over Georgia Southern on Jan. 20. Alston, who reached the milestone in the dwindling seconds of the game, is the 28th Mountaineer to reach 1,000 career points at App State and the second Mountaineer to reach 1,000 collegiate career points within the past two seasons.
For a fifth consecutive game and 12th time during the 2023-24 campaign, Alston was the Mountaineers' top scorer, netting 24 points against the Eagles. Alston drained 11-of-13 from the line and also matched graduate student
Mariah Frazier for a team-high four assists apiece. Junior
J'Mani Ingram set a new career high by netting 23 points, while sophomore
Alexis Black matched her career high of 18 points. Sophomore
Rylan Moffitt pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds. App State held Georgia Southern to eight fastbreak points.
Ranked Mountaineers
For the week of Jan. 15-21, Alston led the league in double-doubles and total free throws, ranking among the top-20 nationally. In the total assists and assists per game categories, Alston ranked second in the league and among the top-25 in the NCAA. She also ranked fourth in the Sun Belt in the points and points per game categories. Moffitt checked in at third in the conference in the total rebounds and rebounds per game categories. App State led the Sun Belt and rounded out the top-10 nationally for bench points per game, offensive rebounds per game, and total rebounds per game.
In league-only play, Harris stands second for made 3-pointers per game and rounds out the top-five for 3-point percentage. Moffitt stands second in the rebounds category and fourth in the blocked shots category. Alston ranks third in the SBC for scoring, fourth for assists, and rounds out the top-five for steals.
On the season, Alston ranks second in the league and among the NCAA's top-20 in the total free throws and minutes per game categories. She also ranks in the Sun Belt's top-five in the assists, assists per game, field goals, total points, points per game, total steals, and steals per game categories. Moffitt ranks in the Sun Belt top-five in the total blocks, blocks per game, total rebounds, and rebounds per game categories. As a team, App State ranks second in the league and rounds out the NCAA top-30 for made free throws per game. The Mountaineers also stand in the top-five in the league for offensive rebounds per game, total rebounds per game, made 3-pointers per game, and turnovers forced per game.
Last Time Against Old Dominion
App State last met Old Dominion on Feb. 16, 2023 in Norfolk, Va. The Mountaineers fell to the Monarchs, 71-65.
Emily Carver and Chaé Harris each netted 14 points. The pair combined for seven of the Mountaineers' eight treys on the night.
Taylor Lewis pulled down a team-high seven rebounds and Carver pulled down six. Alston dished out a team-high three assists.
Scouting Old Dominion
Old Dominion is 12-5 on the season and 4-3 in the Sun Belt. The Monarchs enter Thursday's contest after a pair of road losses to Marshall and James Madison. This week, ODU received 54 votes in this week's College Insider Women's Mid-Major Top-25.
In conference play, Old Dominion collected three consecutive wins from Jan. 6 to Jan. 13 over Southern Miss, Coastal Carolina, and Georgia Southern. ODU also opened conference play with a victory at South Alabama. In non-conference action, the Monarchs went on an eight-game win-streak from Nov. 6 to Dec. 7.
En'Dya Buford is ODU's top scorer, averaging 11.1 points per game. ODU's top rebounder is Simone Cunningham, who averages 6.1 rebounds per contest. Cunningham also leads the team in the blocked shots category. Jordan McLaughlin averages a team-high 2.6 assists per game.
On the Horizon
The Mountaineers will continue their road stretch with a stop in Harrisonburg, Va. on Jan. 27. App State will clash with James Madison at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
