LYNCHBURG, Va. – The App State women's track and field team closed out its first day of competition at the Brant Tolsma Invitational on Friday with eight top-10 finishes. Action at the Brant Tolsma Invitational will resume at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
On the track, four Mountaineers placed in the top-10 in the women's 200 meters, led by freshman
Sierra Smith, who placed second with a personal best of 24.65. Fellow freshmen
Jayla Adams and
Nicole Wells finished fifth (24.68, PR), and eighth (25.10, PR) respectively, while sophomore
Daye Talley rounded out the top-10 with a time of 25.21. Senior
Jasmine Donohue clocked a time of 17:32.06 to finish seventh in the women's 5,000 meters.
In the women's long jump, senior
Taylor Smith landed second with a leap of 5.80m (19' 0.25"), while graduate student
Ashlee Osaji rounded out the top-five with a leap of 5.69m (18' 8"). Junior
Daiyanna Cooper placed ninth in the women's weight throw with a mark of 16.55m (54' 3.5").
