Calbert Guest was named the Sun Belt's Men's Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Guest clocked a personal best of 8:57.83 to place sixth in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C. on April 21. Guest's time moves him to fifth in the App State all-time list for the event.
The Fort Collins, Colo. native leads the Sun Belt in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase category and ranks 11th in the Southeast Region. He also stands 36th in the NCAA East Prelim qualifying list and 85th overall in the NCAA in the event.
The Mountaineers are set to host the App State Open on April 28-29 at the Randy Marion Track & Field Facility. Field events are slated for 10 a.m. on Friday and will roll into a 4 p.m. ribbon cutting ceremony before events on the track start. Action resumes on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with field events and 12:10 p.m. for track events.
