BOONE, N.C. - The App State men's and women's track team will take a short trip to Hickory, N.C. for the Southside Power & Fitness Invitational, hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne on Friday and Saturday. The meet is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start on Friday and will resume at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Irwin Track at Moretz Sports Athletic Campus.

The Mountaineers competed at the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C. on April 6-7. Junior
Chris Wainscott recorded personal bests in the men's discus (51.26m (168' 2")) and men's hammer throw (57.57m (188' 10")), finishing and 14th, respectively. In the App State record book, Wainscott currently ranks third in the men's shot put, fourth in the men's discus, and ninth in the men's hammer throw. Fellow junior
Nathan Karl finished 12th in the men's discus with a toss of 47.20m (154' 10"). Sophomore
Daiyanna Cooper recorded a personal best of 55.01m (180' 5") in the women's hammer throw, finishing 17th overall. Cooper's toss moved her to second in the App State all-time list for the event.
In section B of the women's pole vault, freshman
Ava Studney tied for ninth with a clearance of 3.50m (11' 5.75"). In section B of the men's pole vault, junior
Braden Underwood recorded a clearance of 4.60m (15' 1") to tie for 11th overall.

Jonah Morris posted personal bests in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, with Guest taking third with a time of 9:09.53 and Morris taking 13th with a time of 9:22.89. In the men's 5,000 meters, junior
Dwayne Lillie clocked a personal best of 14:26.49, which placed him 19th overall and moved him to eighth in the App State all-time list.

This week in the Sun Belt rankings, 26 Mountaineers rank in the top-10 in 18 individual events. The men's squad also ranks fifth as a team in the USTFCCCA conference rankings. Senior

Mariah Atwater remains at third in the women's 400 meters and fourth in the women's 200 meters. Wainscott maintains his position at second in the men's shot put and moves up to fifth in the men's hammer throw and sixth in the men's discus. In the USTFCCCA Southeast Region team rankings, the men's squad ranks 21st while the women rank 28th. Individually, 16 Mountaineers stand in the top-25 in 12 individual events in the region. Branch remains second in the women's triple jump, while Wainscott remains sixth in the men's shot put, and climbs to 17th in both men's hammer throw and men's discus categories. Guest rounds out the top-five in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase category after his performance at Duke. Freshman
Harrison Robinson ranks 12th in the men's 110-meter hurdles and junior
Cole Krehnbrink ranks 14th in the men's 400 meters.
App State's relay teams also rank in the top-25 in the Southeast Region, with the women's 4x100-meter relay team taking 13th, men's 4x400-meter relay team taking 14th, women's 4x400-meter relay team ranking 16th, and the men's 4x100-meter relay team checking in at 21st.
Wainscott, Branch, and Robinson are joined by Guest in the top-48 of the NCAA East Prelim qualifying list and NCAA top-100 rankings. Branch moves to 13th in the East Prelim list and ranks 27th nationally in the women's triple jump. In the men's shot put, Wainscott ranks 34th in the East Prelim list and 70th nationally. Guest checks in at 46th in the East Prelim rankings and rounds out the top 100 in the NCAA for the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase. In the men's 110-meter hurdles category, Robinson ranks 47th in the East Prelim list and 79th in the NCAA overall.
In this week's USTFCCCA event squad rankings, App State's women's 10,000 meters squad ranks 11th.
