BOONE, N.C. -- App State men's basketball and James Madison are set to meet at the Holmes Center for the first time as Sun Belt foes on Saturday at 4 p.m.

THE SERIES
- This will be the eighth meeting between the two schools in a series that App State leads 5-2.
- The Mountaineers defeated the Dukes on the road on Jan. 7, 71-62. CJ Huntley led the Black & Gold to victory with 15 points and eight rebounds, including five and five in the final four minutes to seal the win. Donovan Gregory recorded nine assists that game and has matched that two times since.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS (13-11, 6-5 SBC)
- App State dropped its last contest to Marshall, despite a career night by Justin Abson. The top two shot-blocking freshmen in the country, Abson and Micah Handlogten, battled down low all game, each blocking several shots and grabbing at least eight rebounds. Abson finished with a career-high 16 points on 7-11 shooting, blocked three shots, and tied his career-high eight rebounds.
- The Mountaineers rank 26th in the nation in field goal percentage defense and lead the Sun Belt. The Mountaineers have held their opponents to 39.8% shooting from the field.
- Gregory recorded his 500th rebound on Thursday and is 16 points away from becoming the 35th member of the 1,000-point club at App State. He could become at least the 13th player in school history to record 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. He is also one steal away from becoming the seventh player in App State's history with 150 steals.
- Terence Harcum has led the scoring charge in App State's last five wins, averaging 12.5 points in conference play.
SCOUTING THE DUKES (16-8, 7-4 SBC)
- James Madison has won three in a row, defeating Coastal Carolina, ULM and Old Dominion.
- JMU is one of just two Sun Belt teams with at least four double-digit scorers on its roster (Coastal Carolina). The Dukes have had 15 games with at least four 10-point scorers.
- The Dukes have recorded the third-most steals per game in the nation (10.3).
- JMU ranks 13th in the country in free throw attempts (23.1), while App State ranks 14th in fewest fouls (14.0).
