BOONE, N.C. - The App State women's basketball team will open action in the second round of the Sun Belt Women's Basketball Championship on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. CT (8:30 p.m. ET) in Pensacola, Fla. The No. 10-seeded Mountaineers will take on No. 7 seed Louisiana at the Pensacola Bay Center and the game will be available to watch on ESPN+.
Last Time Out
App State closed out the regular season with a Senior Day victory over ULM, 77-63. The Mountaineers surpassed their program record for 3-pointers made in a season, recording nine treys for a total of 223 so far in 2022-23. The previous record was 215, set during the 2018-19 season.

Faith Alston each netted 11 points, while freshman Chaé Harris accounted for 10. Porter and Alston split the lead for assists, each dishing out four.
App State caused 21 ULM turnovers, scoring 20 points off the turnovers. The Black and Gold also held the Warhawks to a mere three 3-point buckets during the game. Forty of App State's 77 points came from the bench.
Last Time Against Louisiana
App State clashed with Louisiana on Jan. 28 for Alumni Weekend, falling to the Ragin' Cajuns, 65-51. Carver netted 17 points and drained five of App State's 10 treys. The game marked Carver's sixth consecutive contest scoring in double figures and had been her fourth in six games as App State's leading scorer at the time. Alston scored 16 points for the Mountaineers. App State shot 77.8 percent from the line.
Scouting Louisiana
Louisiana went 16-14 (10-8 SBC) during the regular season. The Ragin' Cajuns closed out conference action with three consecutive losses, falling to Arkansas State (Feb. 18), Texas State (Feb. 22) and Southern Miss in overtime (Feb. 24).
Lanay Wheaton and Tamera Johnson are Louisiana's top scorers, averaging 12.3 and 11.6 points per game, respectively. Johnson also leads the team in rebounds, blocked shots and steals. Destiny Rice leads the Ragin' Cajuns in assists.

The winner of Wednesday night's game will advance to Friday's quarterfinals, where they will take on No. 2-seeded Texas State at 7:30 p.m. CT (8:30 p.m. ET). The tournament will be held from Feb. 28-March 6 and its champion will earn an automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Tournament.
