BOONE, N.C. -- App State men's basketball is set to host Texas State on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. to begin its last home weekend of the regular season.
The matchup will feature two of the top four defenses in the Sun Belt. App State holds the best scoring defense (63.9) and Texas State sits at the four-spot (65.9). The Mountaineers rank 35th in the nation in the scoring defense column.
Donovan Gregory and Mason Harrell are the players to watch, each leading their teams in points, assists and steals.

THE SERIES
- This will be the 17th meeting between the two schools in a series that Texas State leads 9-7.
- The squads have split the last four, with the Bobcats winning the most recent matchup on Feb. 3, 2022, 68-66.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS (14-13, 7-7 SBC)
- App State split its last weekend, defeating ULM before falling to South Alabama.
- The Mountaineers rank 17th in the nation in field goal percentage defense and lead the Sun Belt. They have held their opponents to 39.7% shooting from the field.
- App State averages only 13.6 fouls per game, ranking seventh in the country in fewest fouls.
- Terence Harcum has been red-hot during conference play, averaging 12.4 points in SBC games. The sophomore averages 2.3 3-pointers during conference games (4th in the SBC) and 82% on foul shots (5th).
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS (12-15, 5-9 SBC)
- Texas State seeks momentum after losing four of its last five. Last weekend, the Bobcats earned a win over Arkansas State before falling to Old Dominion.
- The Bobcats share the love on offense, featuring six players that average eight points or more during conference games. Last game, they had five players score at least 10.
- Harrell, who was named to the preseason All-Sun Belt first team, has recorded eight games of 20 points or more this season.
- Nighael Ceaser pulls down a team-high 6.6 rebounds to go along with 9.1 points. The graduate student has posted two double-doubles this year.
