Emily Carver was the Mountaineers' top scorer for her second consecutive game and fourth game of the season, netting 27 points. Carver tied the program record for most made 3-pointers in a single game, draining seven of the Mountaineers' 13 treys. Senior

Carver collected the Mountaineers' first Sun Belt Player of the Week nod this season for her efforts on the court against the College of Charleston and Richmond. The accolade is also the second in her career after she was named SBC Player of the Week as a sophomore on Jan. 17, 2023.
Ranked Mountaineers
For the week of Dec. 4-10, App State led the conference and ranked 28th in the NCAA for 3-pointers per game, averaging 10. The Mountaineers also ranked second in the league for assists per game (15.5), and scoring offense (77). Carver led the Sun Belt in made 3-pointers, 3-pointers per game, and points. Nationally, she ranked fifth in made 3-pointers, ninth in 3-pointers per game, and rounded out the top-10 in points. Moffitt led the league in blocks, blocks per game, rebounds, and rebounds per game. Alston led the SBC in assists and ranked among the top-five in assists per game, steals, steals per game, and 3-points.
Alston and Carver stand among the league's top-10 scorers on the season, averaging 16.1 and 15.9 points per game, respectively. The duo also rank in the conference's top-five in the steals and steals per game categories. Carver rounds out the SBC's top-five in the 3-pointers per game and 3-point percentage categories.
Last Time Against Gardner-Webb
App State defeated Gardner-Webb, 87-81, in Boone on Dec. 20, 2022. Five Mountaineers scored double-figures, led by Chaé Harris who netted 17 points. Harris drained 3-of-4 from the arc, pulled down two rebounds, and recorded two blocks.
A'Lea Gilbert and Carver each pulled down six rebounds while
Brooke Bigott dished out a team-high six assists. The Mountaineers held the Bulldogs to nine fastbreak points.
Scouting Gardner-Webb
The Bulldogs are seeking their first win of the 2023-24 campaign, currently standing at 0-9 (0-0 Big South). This season, Gardner-Webb has clashed with No. 16 UNC, Elon, Richmond, Charlotte, College of Charleston, UNCG, Furman, and FGCU.
Ashley Hawkins is the Bulldogs' top scorer, averaging 14.8 points per game. Hawkins boasts a free throw percentage of .839 and leads the team in assists, dishing out an average 4.8. Ramatoulaye Keita leads the team in rebounds, averaging 7.0 per contest.
