#AppStateNFL Update, Week 5

BOONE, N.C. — Darrynton Evans is back with the Chicago Bears.

The fourth-year running back spent part of last season in Chicago, averaging 4.6 yards per carry and gaining 33 yards on a pass reception. He rushed for a 35-yard, highlight-reel touchdown against the Bears at Soldier Field as a member of the Buffalo Bills during the 2023 preseason and has been on the Miami Dolphins' practice squad in recent weeks.

With the Bears shorthanded because of three injuries suffered at running back in their last game, they have signed Evans to their active roster by acquiring him from the Dolphins' practice squad.

The Mountaineers have a Sun Belt-leading 12 alums currently on NFL rosters, as the New York Jets recently signed cornerback Tae Hayes to their practice squad, and defensive coordinator Steve Wilks from the unbeaten San Francisco 49ers is also an App State alum. Around the league:

Kendall Lamm – OL, Miami Dolphins
Lamm started at left tackle prior to the return of Terron Armstead, and Lamm was back in the starting lineup Sunday with Armstead being placed on injured reserve.

Lamm played all 54 offensive snaps as the Dolphins improved to 4-1 with a 31-16 victory against the New York Giants. Miami averaged 9.7 yards per rush while gaining 222 yards on the ground, and Tua Tagovailoa threw for 308 yards.

The Dolphins have the most total yards (2,568) in any team's first five games in NFL history. They lead the league in passing yards (1,639), yards per attempt (10.0), rushing yards (929), yards per rush (6.9), total yards per game (511.0), yards per play (8.02), first downs per game (25.5) and points per game (37.5).
