BOONE, N.C. — Ranked 19th nationally, App State Wrestling has business to take care of on the road before hunkering down at home.
The Mountaineers (7-2, 3-0 SoCon) travel to Gardner-Webb (4-7, 2-1 SoCon) for a conference dual Monday in Paul Porter Arena at 6 p.m. The dual will be streamed on ESPN+.
App State is one of three SoCon teams without a league loss, joined by annual contenders Chattanooga and Campbell, who are both 4-0 in the league. The Mountaineers host Chattanooga on Sunday at 3 p.m. and then host Campbell to open a SoCon tripleheader in Varsity Gym on Sunday, Feb. 19.
Through the first three SoCon duals, with Monday's being the third straight on the road, App State has won 29 of the 30 matches over the 10 weight classes.
App State has five current starters included in the first set of NCAA Coaches' Rankings, while Gardner-Webb has one in 165-pound standout and reigning SoCon champion RJ Mosley, who is No. 24 in his weight class. App State's
Will Formato (ranked 26th at 165) and Mosley are four-year starters who have already met six times in their decorated careers, with three of those matches being decided by one point.
The Runnin' Bulldogs' top wrestlers in terms of victories this year have been Mosley, Drew West (17-7 overall, 7-0 in duals at 125), Todd Carter (16-10 overall, 6-1 in duals at 133), Zach Price (12-5 overall, 4-2 in duals at 141) and Jha'Quan Anderson (14-12 overall at 184). Those wrestlers accounted for five of Gardner-Webb's six wins Friday in a 23-12 victory against The Citadel.

App State has its highest-ever ranking in the NWCA Coaches Poll — it is as high as No. 18 in the country in a different poll (from Win Magazine) and has been as high as No. 16 in InterMat's rankings, back in 2016-17.
