BOONE, N.C. – App State Football can again stake claim to having the nation's best video crew, as Will Allen's work on a Sun Belt Championship project not only won best motivational video at the 2022 SAVVY Awards but also the event's top honor — the Ultimate SAVVY.
The awards, which are presented by the Collegiate Sports Video Association, were announced earlier this month in Jacksonville, Fla.
This year's top video among all categories was the "Finish The Job — Pre-Sun Belt Championship" motivational video that included narration from App State Football alum Darrynton Evans, currently a running back for the Chicago Bears.
With
Jacob Berry leading App State Football's video department, the award-winning production included contributions from Allen, Max Renfro, Andrei Paras, Vince Fortea, Palmer Noyes and Tyler Buckwell. Renfro's work was also recognized with runner-up finishes in the recruiting video and short social video categories.
The Mountaineers' football video crew, with App State students making major contributions, has claimed at least one first-place SAVVY award nine times in the last 15 years: 2008, 2009, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.
The other categories were best highlight video (winner: USF), best recruiting video (winner: Cal) and short social video (winner: Buffalo). The winning videos from each of the four video categories were candidates for the Ultimate SAVVY.
