BOONE, N.C. -- App State men's basketball opens a four-game homestand on Thursday evening against Georgia Southern. Tip is set for 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
TICKETS
Single game tickets for the 2021-22 season are on sale and can be purchased by
clicking here. Any fan buying a walkup ticket on Thursday wearing black will receive $5 off their ticket. In addition, the first 200 students receive a t-shirt. Students will receive free food behind the student sections while supplies last.
COVID-19 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
- There are no crowd size restrictions at this time.
- Face coverings are required in all indoor areas, regardless of vaccination status. If actively eating, face coverings are not required to be worn
- Face coverings are not required outside the Holmes Convocation Center.
- Hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the facility.
THE SERIES
- This will be the 58th meeting between the two schools, with the Mountaineers leading 32-25.
- App State won the meeting earlier this season by a 70-62 score in Statesboro.
- The Mountaineers have won three straight games over the Eagles in Boone.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
- App State stayed atop the Sun Belt with a 70-61 come-from-behind victory at UT Arlington on Saturday.
- CJ Huntley had a team-high 19 points, while Michael Almonacy added 17 points and a season-best seven rebounds. Adrian Delph tallied his second double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Donovan Gregory added 13 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals.
- Delph sits second in the Sun Belt in overall scoring average (17.2 ppg) and conference only scoring (19.8 ppg).
- App State has limited nine of its 12 conference opponents to less than 70 points and leads the league in opponent scoring, averaging 62.8 points.
- The Mountaineers received 10 votes in this week's CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major poll.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
- Georgia Southern fell 61-52 to Troy on Saturday to drop to 11-10 and 4-6 in Sun Belt play.
- Elijah McCadden had 13 points off the bench, while Kaden Archie added 11 points in a reserve role.
- McCadden leads the team in scoring at 11.8 points, with Andrei Savrasov also averaging double figures at 10.5 points.
- The Eagles are shooting 46.5 percent from the field this season, which ranks second in the conference.
- Georgia Southern is also holding opponents to 63.2 points, which sits second in the conference.
