App State Concludes Weekend at UT Arlington

ARLINGTON, Tex. -- App State men's basketball will close out its weekend in Texas at UT Arlington at 6 p.m. EST on ESPN+.

THE SERIES

• This will be the 15th meeting between the two schools, with the Mavericks holding an 11-3 edge.
• The two teams did not play last season and last met during the 2019-20 season, with UTA winning 66-56 in Arlington on Jan. 9, 2020 and App State winning 57-50 on Feb. 6, 2020 in Boone.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS

• App State dropped a 68-66 decision at Texas State on Thursday evening.
• Adrian Delph had 22 points, five rebounds and three assists and Donovan Gregory scored all 17 points in the second half and added six rebounds.
• Delph has now scored 20 or more points in seven games this season, including five in Sun Belt play.
• Over his last eight games, Gregory has scored in double figures six times and is averaging 12.9 points and 5.8 rebounds.
• On the season, James Lewis Jr. is averaging 3.0 offensive rebounds per game, which sits third in the Sun Belt.
• In conference play, the Mountaineers are limiting opponents to just 64.5 points, which is tops in the league.

SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS

• UT Arlington's contest on Thursday with Coastal Carolina was canceled due to weather.
• The Mavericks fell to Texas State on Jan. 28 by a 58-53 score. David Azore had 23 points and four rebounds, while Patrick Mwamba tallied eight points and five rebounds.
• Azore sits atop the Sun Belt in scoring, averaging a league leading 18.2 points. He is also averaging a conference-best 23.9 points in Sun Belt play.
• Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehigou is averaging a league best 2.5 blocks, while Javon Levi sits second in the Sun Belt averaging 5.0 assists.
