BOONE, N.C. - App State baseball to battle South Carolina in a midweek showdown at Triust Field from Charlotte, North Carolina, on Tuesday.

App State enters its second midweek game of the young season now 3-4 overall after a 10-1 game-three win at UNCG on Sunday.

The Mountaineer offense came to life Sunday, recording a season high of hits (14) and runs scored (10). Seven of the Mountaineer starting nine connected on a hit. Hayden Cross, Jacob Whitley and Austin St. Laurent each produced multiple hits on Sunday.

H. Cross recorded his second three-hit outing of the season Sunday, going 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. For the weekend series, H. Cross posted a total of seven hits, going 7-13 (.538) with four doubles, four RBIs and four runs scored.

South Carolina marches into Tuesday on a five-game win streak, 6-1, after sweeping George Washington this past weekend, outsourcing its opponent 28-10 and recording 28 strikeouts as a pitching staff. The Gamecocks also took two out of three against UNCG to begin the season.

Offensively, South Carolina ranks top 50 in the country in scoring, averaging eight runs per game. A Gamecock team batting average of .319 ranks No. 31 and a team on-base percentage of .342 ranks No. 26 nationally.
