Biography

2022: Made 11 starts as a fifth-year senior, striking out 43 batters in 42.1 innings, split between the midweek and weekend role in the rotation. Started against 13th Ranked North Carolina in Chapel Hill, striking out two in four innings of work. Struck out five in a row and six overall, earning the win over UNC Asheville, March 29. Picked up the win on May 1 against Louisiana, tossing a career-high 6.1 innings. In the final start of his career, recorded a career-high seven strikeouts to help App State to a victory over Little Rock in the opening round of the Sun Belt Tournament. Allowed two earned runs or fewer in 8 of 11 starts. Struck out at least four batters in 7 of 11 starts.

2021: Struck out 40 batters in 35.0 innings over 16 appearances, including two starts to end the season … Went 1-2 with a 7.71 ERA … Made two straight Game 2 weekend starts to close the regular season, setting a career high for innings each time, with his last start before that coming in a 2019 Sun Belt Championship opener … In a 4-2 win against South Alabama, pitched a career-high 5.1 innings and allowed single runs in each of the first two innings. A second-inning sac fly started a stretch in which he retired 12 of 14 batters, with two walks serving as the only baserunners … In a 4-2 loss at Little Rock, allowed three earned runs in 5.0 innings … Excelled in high-leverage weekend relief situations, notably a 4-2, series-opening win against Georgia State as he earned the win by striking out four batters in 2.2 scoreless innings.

2020 (no eligibility used due to COVID-19): Did not make any game appearances.

2019: Made 19 pitching appearances and four starts while posting a 2-1 record with a 5.32 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 47.1 innings … Began career with 23 straight relief appearances before making the first of his four starts on April 30 … Had a 3.46 ERA in 13 innings as a starter before starting App State’s debut in the Sun Belt Conference Championship tournament, where he allowed two runs on no hits in an inning of work against Louisiana … Needed only 44 pitches to retire the first 14 batters as he took a perfect game into the fifth inning of a 6-3 win vs. Western Carolina in his first start … Started Game 3 of the South Alabama series on May 12 and nearly ended the top of the fifth with a 2-0 lead, but a potential third out on a sliding catch attempt popped out of the outfielder’s glove, and the Jaguars hit a three-run homer on the next pitch … Started the regular-season finale at Coastal Carolina and threw 37 pitches before exiting with a 2-1 lead through three innings … Three days before making his first start, picked up his first career win by allowing one run in 3.2 relief innings to close out a home sweep of then-first-place UTA … Struck out a career-high five batters in 3.1 innings of relief at Arkansas State … Had 6.1 straight scoreless innings of relief during a three-game stretch against Wake Forest (two Ks in 1.0 IP), UNC Asheville (two Ks and one hit allowed in 3.0 IP) and ETSU (two Ks in 2.0 IP).

2018: Ranked fourth on the team with a 3.55 ERA in nine appearances as a freshman … Gave up five earned runs in 12.2 innings and allowed three earned runs over his last 11.1 innings of the season … Had a 2.57 ERA in 7.0 innings over four games in Sun Belt Conference play.

High School: 8-3 record and a 2.44 ERA on the mound as a senior ... Along with current teammate Alex Leshock, state champion as a sophomore and junior at Marvin Ridge ... During junior year, finished with a 0.62 ERA, striking out 85 batters en route to an 11-1 record ... Four-year letterwinner in baseball ... Named all-conference and all-state ...
