GREENSBORO, N.C. - App State baseball snapped a three-game skid with a 10-1 series-finale win at UNCG on Sunday.
Sunday's first pitch was originally scheduled for a 1 p.m. start but was pushed back to 3:30 p.m. due to weather.
The Mountaineer offense came to life Sunday, recording a season high of hits (14) and runs scored (10). Seven of the Mountaineer starting nine connected on a hit. Hayden Cross, Jacob Whitley and Austin St. Laurent each produced multiple hits on the day.
H. Cross had another three hit outing, going 3-for-5 with a RBI and two runs scored on Sunday. For the weekend series, H. Cross posted a total of seven hits, going 7-13 with four doubles, four RBIs and four runs scored.
Whitley's first long ball of the season, a two-run blast, occurred in the third to make it 5-1 Mountaineers.
App State put a leadoff batter on base in six innings and plated multiple runs in four innings. UNCG's lone run of the day, a season low, came in the second after a Mountaineer three-spot in the top half of the same frame.
Trey Tujetsch got the Sunday start on the mound for the Black and Gold, his first start of the season. Tujetsch pitched 4.2 innings allowing one run on six hits and struck out five.
Trey Jernigan (2-0) was credited with the win in relief of Tujetsch. Jernigan tallied 1.0 inning, surrendering zero runs on one hit and struck out one. With Sunday's win, the Black and Gold improved to 3-4 overall on the year.
App State will be back in action on Tuesday for a midweek battle against South Carolina at Truist Field, home of the Charlotte Knights. Tickets are available HERE.
