App State Continues Homestand Against Georgia State on Saturday

BOONE, N.C. -- App State men's basketball continues its homestand on Saturday, welcoming Georgia State to the Holmes Convocation Center. Tip is set for 4 p.m. on ESPN+.

COVID-19 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
  • There are no crowd size restrictions at this time.
  • Face coverings are required in all indoor areas, regardless of vaccination status. If actively eating, face coverings are not required to be worn
  • Face coverings are not required outside the Holmes Convocation Center.
  • Hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the facility.
THE SERIES
  • This will be the 18th meeting between the two schools with the Mountaineers leading 9-8.
  • App State won the meeting earlier this season in Atlanta 61-60.
  • The Black and Gold have won four of the last five meetings with the Panthers.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
  • App State defeated Georgia Southern 65-61 on Thursday.
  • Adrian Delph tallied his second straight and third double-double of the season with 19 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. Donovan Gregory had 15 points and eight rebounds, Michael Almonacy had 15 points and James Lewis Jr. scored all 10 of his points in the second half.
  • The Mountaineers have now seen four players score in double figures in the same contest in their last five games.
  • App State's 10-3 start in league play is the best for the program since joining the Sun Belt. In addition, it's also the best start for the Mountaineers in conference play since the 2006-07 season.
  • The Mountaineers received 10 votes in this week's CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major poll.
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
  • Georgia State defeated Coastal Carolina 61-50 on Thursday for its fourth win in its last five games.
  • Kane Williams finished with 18 points and three assists, while Jalen Thomas tallied a double-double with 11 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Nelson Phillips also reached double figures with 10 points and added seven rebounds.
  • Both Corey Allen and Phillips are amongst the league leaders in steals, sitting tied for second averaging 1.8 steals per game.
  • As a team, the Panthers are averaging 9.3 steals a game, which leads the league.
