BOONE, N.C. — Jalen Virgil produced 15 plays of at least 40 yards in his App State career. It should come as no surprise that his first NFL touch turned into a 66-yard touchdown.
Here's a recap of the highlights among #AppStateNFL alums in Week 10. Thirteen App State alums, a Sun Belt Conference high, are currently on NFL rosters, along with interim head coach Steve Wilks leading the Carolina Panthers.
Jalen Virgil, WR, Denver Broncos
Virgil, who made the Denver Broncos' 53-man roster as an undrafted rookie, made his NFL debut Sunday and scored a long touchdown on his first career reception. Streaking down the left sideline, he caught a throw from Russell Wilson just outside of Tennessee's 40-yard line and sprinted untouched to the end zone to give Denver an early lead.
"It meant a lot," Virgil told reporters. "It's been a lot to get to this moment, but I'm definitely blessed, and hopefully I can keep building off of it."
Sam Martin, P/H, Buffalo Bills
Martin averaged 50.7 yards on three punts (with a 46.7 net average) in a loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He had a long punt of 58 yards.
Colby Gossett, OG, Atlanta Falcons
With some injuries on Atlanta's line, Gossett started at left guard and played every offensive snap in a 25-15 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
Ryan Neuzil, OG, Atlanta Falcons
Neuzil, a second-year pro, played for the second straight week after making his NFL debut in Week 9. He appeared on four special teams plays as the Falcons kicked one field goal and attempted two extra points against the Panthers.
Tae Hayes, CB, Carolina Panthers
Hayes was active but did not play in the win against the Falcons.
Shemar-Jean Charles, CB, Green Bay Packers
Jean-Charles was inactive in the win against the Dallas Cowboys.
Shaun Jolly, CB, Los Angeles Rams
