BOONE, N.C. - The App State women's basketball team will open play at Holmes Convocation Center on Monday as they host local Division II opponent Lees-McRae at 6:30 p.m. The game will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

App State fell to Eastern Kentucky, 95-63, in its second road game of the 2022-23 season.
Redshirt senior
Janay Sanders led the team with 13 points and three assists. Graduate student
Lauren Carter and
Emily Carver earned 10 points apiece. The Mountaineers forced 17 EKU turnovers and collected seven steals, but it wasn't enough to cool the Colonels' hot shooting.
Last Time Against Lees-McRae
App State opened the 2021-22 season against Lees-McRae in Boone, defeating the Bobcats 75-41. Michaela Porter and
Faith Alston led the Mountaineers with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Porter also recorded nine rebounds and six steals on the night while Alston dished out five assists.
The Mountaineers scored 32 points off the bench and 30 in the paint. The Black and Gold also forced the Bobcats to 31 turnovers, off which App State scored 24 of its 75 total points.
App State is 3-0 all-time against Lees-McRae.
Scouting Lees-McRae
Lees-McRae is 0-1 (0-0 CC) on the season after falling short to a ranked North Georgia squad, 68-67 on Nov. 12. Sandra Mason led the Bobcats with 13 points, going 3 for 3 at the 3-point line and notching four rebounds and four assists. Aurora Roberts scored 11 points and dished out a team-high eight rebounds. Essence Sumner put up 10 points against North Georgia.
Last year, Lees-McRae went 9-18 (9-15 CC). The Bobcats posted a three-game win-streak from Feb. 5 to Feb. 8, picking up home conference wins over UNC Pembroke, Erskine, and Emmanuel (Ga.). In the Conference Carolinas Tournament, No. 9 seeded Lees Mc-Rae fell to No. 8 seed Emmanuel, 72-57.

App State will play host to Norfolk State on Nov. 17 at 6:30 p.m. The Black and Gold will then head to Morgantown, W.Va. to face Big 12 contender West Virginia for a battle of the Mountaineers on Nov. 20.
