App State Hosts Bellarmine on Friday

BOONE, N.C. – App State field hockey is set to host Mid-American Conference opponent Bellarmine on Friday at 5 p.m.

The game will be live streamed on Twitch with live stats available to follow along.

The Mountaineers (5-5, 1-2 MAC) won their last outing against Lock Haven 3-2, led by Friederike Stegen with two goals and Rachel Fleig with the game-winner.

This was head coach Meghan Dawson's 50th win at App State. The former North Carolina graduate has coached the Black & Gold since the 2015 season. App State has seen its first conference player of the year, its first ranked win and its longest winning streak in program history under Dawson's leadership.

This season, the Mountaineers have outscored their opponents 21-7 at home, going 4-1 at Brandon & Erica M. Adcock Field. Stegen leads the squad in goals (10), followed by Anna Smarrelli (5) and Pauline Mangold (4).

Carli Ciocco has tallied 10 assists so far this year, the second most in App State history for a single season. The record is currently held by Bridgette Burkhardt, who assisted 12 goals during the 2003 season.

Defensively, App State goalkeeper Addie Clark is second in the MAC in goals against average (1.422), save percentage (.769) and shutouts (2), while placing third in total saves with 50 through the first 10 games.

The Knights (3-8, 2-1 MAC) have won their last two, defeating conference foe Longwood 2-1 before picking apart Queens in a five-goal shutout.

Amber Hofenk Jerembo leads the Bellarmine offense with nine goals, including the game-winner for all of the team's wins this season.

Dani Swallow and Kailey Workman have split time in the cage for the Knights this season, each having participated in at least 10 games, often switching at the breaks in play.

After Friday's game, App State will finish its three-game home stand on Oct. 14 against Longwood before going on the road to visit Saint Louis on the 16th and Lindenwood on the 17th.
