TROY, Ala. -- After posting a 72-64 victory at South Alabama on Thursday, App State men's basketball eyes a weekend sweep on Saturday at Troy. Tip is set for 5 p.m. on ESPN+.
THE SERIES
- This will be the 19th meeting between the two teams, with the Mountaineers leading 11-7.
- The two teams met four times last season, with Troy winning three of the four meetings, including both contests in Troy.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
- App State defeated South Alabama 72-64 on Thursday evening to move to 8-8 on the season and 2-1 in conference play.
- CJ Huntley had a career-high 20 points on a career-best eight made field goals. Adrian Delph added 16 points, James Lewis Jr. had 15 points and seven rebounds and Michael Almonacy tallied 12 points, six assists and five rebounds.
- Over his last three games, Huntley is averaging 15.0 points and 5.3 rebounds.
- Almonacy has dished out six or more assists in three consecutive games and is averaging 11.0 points and 7.3 assists during that span.
- Delph sits third in the Sun Belt in scoring at 16.0 points and has reached double figures in scoring in five straight games and 14 times overall this season.
SCOUTING THE TROJANS
- Troy outscored Coastal Carolina 41-30 in the second half en route to a 69-59 win on Thursday to improve to 11-5 overall and 2-1 in Sun Belt play.
- Efe Odigie had a near double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. Off the bench, Jakevan Leftridge had 13 points and six rebounds, while Zay Williams tallied a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards.
- Odigie leads the team in scoring (11.3 ppg) and field goal percentage (50.4 percent), while ranking second on the Trojans in rebounding (6.0 rpg).
- Duke Deen is averaging 9.8 points, which sits second on the Trojans, while leading the team with 54 assists.
