App State Heads to South Alabama for Road Contest

MOBILE, Ala. -- App State men's basketball will play five of its next six games on the road, beginning on Thursday evening at South Alabama. Tip is set for 8 p.m. on ESPN+.

THE SERIES

• These teams met four times last season, with South Alabama winning three of the four contests.
• The teams split a weekend series in Mobile, with South Alabama winning the first game 73-64 and App State taking the second game 83-77.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS

• App State outscored ULM 45-31 in the second half en route to a 77-69 win on Saturday.
• Adrian Delph scored 24 of his game-high 29 points in the second half.Donovan Gregory added 15 points and eight rebounds, while Michael Almonacy had a double-double with 13 points and a career-high tying 10 assists. CJ Huntley had 12 points and six rebounds and James Lewis Jr. pulled down 10 rebounds.
• Over his last six games, Lewis Jr. is averaging 7.0 rebounds.
• Gregory has scored in double figures in three of his last five contests and is averaging 11.6 points and 6.6 rebounds during that span.
• Delph is averaging 16.0 points on the season, which ranks third in the Sun Belt.

SCOUTING THE JAGUARS

• South Alabama fell in its Sun Belt opener at UT Arlington 89-87 in overtime on Dec. 30.
• Charles Manning Jr. had 26 points and Javon Franklin added 21 points and 15 rebounds (11 offensive) in the game. Jay Jay Chandler and Kayo Goncalves each tallied 12 points.
• Manning Jr. is averaging a conference-best 17.9 points, with Chandler sitting sixth at 15.3 points.
• Franklin is averaging a team-best 7.0 rebounds, which sits sixth in the league.
• As a team, South Alabama sits third in scoring offense (75.9 points) and scoring defense (63.0 points).
