App State Heads to Georgia Southern to Close Out Weekend

STATESBORO, Ga. -- App State men's basketball will head to Statesboro to face Georgia Southern on Saturday at 3 p.m. on ESPN+.

THE SERIES

• This will be the 57th meeting between the two schools, with the Mountaineers leading 31-25.
• App State won three of four meetings last season.
• The two teams split a pair of games in Statesboro last year, with App State erasing a 22-point deficit in a 84-78 double overtime win, while the  Eagles won 65-57.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS

• App State defeated Georgia State 61-60 on a basket by Justin Forrest with 1.4 seconds left on Thursday.
• Adrian Delph had 29 points in the win, Michael Almonacy added 10 points and Donovan Gregory had eight points, a career-high tying six assists and five rebounds.
• Delph is just one of three players in the Sun Belt to be averaging 17.0 points or more and sits third at 17.1 points per game.
• In conference play, Delph is just one of four players to be averaging 20.0 points or more, ranking fourth at 21.1 points.
• The Mountaineers held Georgia State under 25.0 percent shooting on 3-pointers, marking the seventh time App State has held an opponent under 25.0 percent from beyond the arc.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES

• Georgia Southern dropped a 76-72 home decision to Coastal Carolina on Thursday evening.
• Elijah McCadden had 20 points and eight rebounds off the bench, with Kamari Brown adding 15 points in a reserve role.
• McCadden is one of three Eagles averaging double figure scoring at a team-best 13.0 points.
• Andrei Sarasov (11.8 ppg) and Brown (10.5 ppg) are also averaging double figures.
• As a team, Georgia Southern is shooting a Sun Belt best 47.6 percent from the field.
