#AppStateNFL Update, Playoff Preview

BOONE, N.C. — Offensive guard Colby Gossett ended the regular season with his first start as an Atlanta Falcon, and six App State alums are on teams that have advanced to the NFL playoffs.
 
The alums on playoff teams are Shemar-Jean Charles (Green Bay Packers cornerback), Kendall Lamm (Tennessee Titans offensive tackle), Josh Thomas (Buffalo Bills safety), Doug Middleton (San Francisco 49ers safety), Akeem Davis-Gaither (Cincinnati Bengals linebacker) and Darrynton Evans (Tennessee Titans running back).
 
Here's an update of the App State alums in the NFL:
 
Shemar Jean-Charles, CB, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay earned the NFC's first-round bye thanks to a 13-4 record during a regular season in which Jean-Charles, a rookie, made eight tackles and forced a fumble in 14 appearances.

Kendall Lamm, OT, Tennessee Titans
Lamm made one start in 12 regular-season appearances for the Titans, who earned the AFC's first-round bye thanks to a 12-5 record.

Darrynton Evans, RB, Tennessee Titans
Evans, who appeared in one game in his second NFL year, is out for the remainder of the season after being placed on injured reserve.

Josh Thomas, DB, Buffalo Bills
Thomas is a member of the practice squad for the AFC East Division champion Buffalo Bills, who went 11-6 during the regular season and will host the New England Patriots on Saturday at 8:15 p.m. on CBS.

Doug Middleton, DB, San Francisco 49ers
Middleton is an injured member of the practice squad for the 49ers, who went 10-7 and reached the playoffs thanks to an overtime win against the Los Angeles Rams in the regular-season finale. San Francisco will open the playoffs on the road Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys at 4:30 p.m. on CBS.

Akeem Davis-Gaither, LB, Cincinnati Bengals
Davis-Gaither, who had foot surgery after suffering an injury in early November, had 26 tackles, three passes defended and one forced fumble in nine games for the Bengals. They won an AFC North Division title during a 10-7 regular season and will host the Las Vegas Raiders on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. on NBC.

Colby Gossett, OG, Atlanta Falcons
Gossett made his first start of the season at left guard in the regular-season finale and played all 50 snaps in a loss to New Orleans. He appeared in 14 games this season and added to the four starts he made in 2018 for the Arizona Cardinals.

Ronald Blair, DE, New York Jets
Returning from injury, Blair played in the final eight games and started the last three for the Jets, who went 4-13. He totaled 23 tackles with one sack and one fumble recovery.

Sam Martin, P, Denver Broncos
Martin averaged 46.0 yards per punt, with a 42.8 net average, in 17 games for the Broncos (8-9). He put 28 punts inside the 20.

Ryan Neuzil, OG, Atlanta Falcons
Neuzil finished his rookie season as a member of the Falcons' practice squad.
