PENSACOLA, Fla. – App State men's basketball will face Little Rock in the First Round of the Sun Belt Tournament on Friday evening. Tip is set for 8:30 p.m. EST from Hartsell Arena in Pensacola, Fla. on ESPN+ and the Appalachian Sports Network from Learfield IMG College.
APP STATE IN THE SUN BELT TOURNAMENT
- App State makes its fifth appearance in the Sun Belt Tournament and is 2-4 all-time.
- Last season, the Mountaineers defeated Coastal Carolina in the Second Round, before falling to Texas State in the Quarterfinals.
THE SERIES
- Little Rock holds an 8-6 edge in the all-time series.
- The two teams have met once in the Sun Belt Tournament, with App State winning 93-64 in the First Round during the 2018 tournament.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
- App State finished fourth in the Sun Belt East Division with a 13-11 overall record and 7-8 mark in conference play.
- App State features four players averaging double figures in scoring in Adrian Delph (12.4 ppg), Justin Forrest (11.7 ppg), Donovan Gregory (11.6 ppg) and Michael Almonacy (11.4 ppg).
- James Lewis Jr. is shooting a team leading 58.9 percent from the field, while Gregory is also shooting better than 50 percent from the field at 52.5 percent.
- RJ Duhart has registered a block in six straight games and ranks second on the team with 14 blocks.
- Forrest is five points away from moving into fifth place in program history in career points.
SCOUTING THE TROJANS
- Little Rock finished 11-14 overall and 7-11 in Sun Belt play to earn the No. 5 seed in the Sun Belt West Division.
- Ruot Monyyong is one of three players in the conference to be averaging a double-double at 11.7 points and 11.0 rebounds.
- Monyyong is also shooting 57.1 percent from the field, which leads the team and sits fourth in the Sun Belt.
- Nikola Maric is shooting 53.8 percent from the field and is averaging a team best 14.4 points on the season.
